Crazy Richards Peanut Butter Review & Giveaway

I absolutely love peanut butter. Really, I mean peanut butter is such a huge part of my diet. And you know, I really appreciate when peanut butter has simple ingredients. Peanuts. Salt. And that's it. I don't like added oils and I'm not TOO big of a fan of flavored peanut butters. Although I'd never turn down chocolate peanut butter (if I found the right blend!).

Anyways, I had the chance to try out some peanut butter by a company called, "Crazy Richards." Crazy Richard's Peanut Butter has been around a while. It was formed and combined by two Richards about 30 years ago and was recently passed along to the newest generation.

Well, I got the chance to try out their peanut butter - creamy and crunchy. I loved it. Here's a weird thing I love with peanut butter - whole milk vanilla Greek yogurt with blueberries! Sure people put peanut butter in smoothies, but I scoop out some of my favorite vanilla greek yogurt into a cup and put it in the freezer with some blueberries. When it's really cold, I spoon out a couple of tablespoons of peanut butter to eat alongside it. It's so good. Something about the salty peanut butter taste with the cold yogurt is so amazing.

Do you have any weird peanut butter combos?

By the way, if you happen to be in need of a new peanut butter recipe, I recommend checking this recipe out. These are peanut butter bars that I made these over the weekend - SO GOOD and very easy to make!

Vegan Peanut Butter Bars

And amazing tasting. And use Crazy Richards peanut butter, I know you won't be disappointed.

The cool thing is - Crazy Richards Peanut Butter also offers up some cashew butter and almond butter, in case you want to try something new. Shop now.

Be sure to follow them on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram.

And I'm so happy to announce I get to giveaway a box of 8 single packets of Crazy Richard's Peanut Butter to two winners. Enter via Rafflecopter below. US Only. Ends 6/20.

My Gluten-Free Journey and Finding Really Good Bread [Gluten Free Coupon Inside!]

Having bread when you are eating gluten-free is a tough battle. I was lucky enough to get a variety of bread to review from Gluten Free Things and I can't wait to share my experience with you. More on that later though!

I started going gluten-free a few years ago. I initially did it to support my mom who had realized she had a wheat and gluten allergy. Then when I avoided gluten with her, I realized some issues I had been battling went away. And voila! My gluten-free journey began.

The tough part about being gluten-free is that you want to try and find foods that agree with your system. It can be hard too. Things I never thought had gluten - do. Like some dressings, some spice blends, even some mustards! So shopping has become a careful experience. I read ingredients labels so closely now and google search my heart out when I am suspicious of a product having wheat or gluten.

The funny thing is though, I really miss bread. Like bread, bagels, rolls. In fact, I vividly remember being out at lunch time one day and I saw this woman outside a bakery hold up this really huge french bread roll. I can't even tell you the nostalgia I felt about seeing that.

Oddly, over time, it's gotten a lot easier to avoid things with gluten. Although I have learned recently that I am getting more sensitive to things that I once thought that I could eat! Like a certain brand of mac & cheese I can't eat anymore because I react to it! Bummer, you guys!

So while this blog isn't exclusively about food, and neither is this only a blog about my gluten-free journey, but I thought I'd put it out there.

And you know what? There is good gluten-free bread out there. Recently I had the chance to try a variety of items from the site, GlutenFreeThings.com. They sent me a multitude of bread goodness to try. In fact, I haven't gotten through it all yet! But they have so much to offer for bread. I've tried their everything bagel, their cinnamon raisin bagel, and I also received English Muffins, pizza crust, and hoagie loafs. Bread goodness!

So far I've tried the bagels because I'm kind of on a bagel kick lately. And I can tell already the GlutenFreeThings products are what I'm looking for. The bagels were soft and toasted really well in the toaster.

Isn't this good stuff? I haven't had the chance to try out the pizza crust, but I'm really excited about my experience so far. I think this is an excellent site for bread. Best of all, I didn't even get a reaction from the bread at all. I feel like it's a place you can trust.  AND no holes in the bread (and for anyone who struggles to find the right gluten-free bread, this is an amazing thing. It's one thing to have a hole in the middle of a bagel but I know I hate seeing holes where there shouldn't be in gluten-free bread).

So if you are gluten intolerant or you have Celiac, you must shop with GlutenFreeThings.com. Plus the prices there, really good. For most of the items I tried, it looks like the prices were roughly $5.99. That's the best prices I've seen in a long time! The downside is that shipping is a tad expensive. It uses FedEx Ground. But if you happen to be in one of their neighboring states, the shipping isn't as much! So that's a huge perk! They are located in Colorado and they have a dedicated gluten-free facility! That's an enormous perk to me.

I am also happy to announce to my readers that if you want to purchase bread from GlutenFreeThings.com you can use the coupon code FANCYTHAT20 for 20% off your order.

I received the above items in exchange for my honest review.

Lotus Foods Rice Review and Giveaway

I tend to eat quite a bit of rice in my diet. First, because it's a healthy grain. Plus, I'm also gluten-free and it's a good grain for me to have that won't negatively impact my body.

So I usually purchase one particular type of rice brand, so I was really eager for the chance to try out a new kind. I tried out rice by Lotus Foods. You may have seen them in the store or heard of them before!

What makes Lotus Foods different? Well they work towards improving the lives of the farmers they work with first of all. They use what is called a "System of Rice Intensification." It's a way of allowing farms to "double and triple their yields while using 80-90% less seed, 50% less water, less or no chemical inputs." Basically, more rice, less water. So I tend to be a visual learner, so if you want to know more about what this means, watch this really short video below:

They also partner with small scale farmers, which I think is amazing and I really like working with companies that do that. One thing you can say for sure when you take a look at the rice they have to offer, they have SO many different kinds.

Organic Forbidden Rice (black rice)
Organic Jasmine Rice
Organic Brown Jasmine Rice
Organic Carnaroli Rice
Organic Jade Pearl Rice
Organic Madagascar Pink Rice
Organic Brown Mekong Flower
Organic Traditional Dehraduni Basmati Rice
Organic Volcano Rice
Organic Red Rice

Wow! Did you even know that there were this many different types of rice? I know I didn't.

Okay so I went with the safe route of trying out the white jasmine rice and brown jasmine rice. I personally love this type of rice. It cooked up wonderfully and the texture was great. I thought the white jasmine rice had a creamy buttery texture almost. I usually make rice dishes with beans, or with peas, or just with mixed grilled veggies on top. It's such a great thing to have precooked and made already in the fridge and I enjoy it a LOT.

Check out all the different kinds of rice Lotus Foods has available and purchase some today.

I'm also very excited to announce that I'm giving away a 30 ounce bag of the Basmati rice and Jasmine rice to one lucky reader. US only. Ends 6/14.

Also be sure to follow them on Twitter, FacebookPinterest, and Instagram.

I received the above items in exchange for my honest review.

I love rich, thick soups that don't give me any gluten reactions. It includes some veggies and you know it didn't throw me at all. Disney's Beauty and the Beast CD is Here [Enter to win!]

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of the Beauty and the Beast CD! You know that one movie that was recreated by Disney and caused quite a stir? Oh, THAT one. Heh. I couldn't resist taking the opportunity to review the CD because it would give me some insight to what the movie was like!

By the way, the Beauty and the Beast Soundtrack will be on sale for $7.99 starting May 12th through May 18th which you can purchase on iTunes, by the way. Purchase now.

I listened to the CD and I am SUCH a huge fan of the original animated version that I almost couldn't get beyond it to enjoy the CD. However, it did make me curious enough to want to see the movie! Have you seen it? Did you enjoy it as much as the animated version?

I appreciated the remade version of Beauty and the Beast with Ariana Grande and John Legend. Didn't have the same magic as the original but it was a lovely version. But like I said, I'm such a die hard fan of the original so I listened to it with those kinds of ears.

If your mom or you know a mom in your life that loved the movie, I think you should get the CD. And you know, be sure to check out this Mom's playlist by Apple Music. It's beautiful!

Best of all, I get to giveaway a copy of the CD to one lucky reader! Enter to win via Rafflecopter below. Giveaway ends on 5/27. US Only.

What To Do When You Stuck in a Snack Rut [Giveaway Inside!]

Sometimes you can easily get in a rut with food. I know I get that way. The same products are in the store, you have the same lunch ideas, you buy the same snacks, the same everything. I know that it actually can be hard to step outside my comfort zone and try something new.

So that's when subscription boxes can help. It's an excellent way of finding new things to try, getting some extra snacks, and opening up your horizon to new foods. Whether you are celiac or gluten-intolerant or simply eat gluten-free by choice, it's time to broaden those horizons!

I recently had the chance to try out the "American Gluten-Free" food box. Here's the photo of what I received -

1) Jessica's Natural Foods Chocolate Chip Granola

2) Beanits Bean Chips Hint of Line

3) Betty Lou's Strawberry Fruit Bar

4) Health Warrior Chia Bar - Acai Berry

5) Betty Lou's Just Great Stuff Bar - Superberry

6) Brami Beans: Chili Lime

7) Ener-G Original Pretzels

8) Hippea's Organic Chickpea - Vegan White CHeddar

One thing I was so excited to see - Jessica's Natural Foods Chocolate Chip Granola! You actually get a really nice sized bag of granola as well. One thing I love about Jessica's Natural Granola is that it's soft, it's not really crunchy. And it's a really tasty snack.

The Beanitos were also a nice surprise for me too. I've had the chance to review them on this blog before and they are such a great snack chip. They come in so many different flavors and the fact that they are made from beans make them kind of guilt free for me.

The other stand out snack that I enjoyed was the Betty Lou's strawberry fruit bar. That was tasty. A little TOO sweet but I never really mind that problem.

As for the other snacks, I thought they were okay. I was a bit wary of the vegan options, such as the vegan white cheddar puffs and the brami beans. I almost wish in this snack box you could specify whether or not you need dairy free snacks. Although I do know a lot of people with Celiac Disease and who are gluten-interolant that can't have dairy. So I definitely understand the need!

One thing I really like about subscription boxes is that you get so much variety and you are exposed to companies you may not have thought of before. The price is about $24.95. Considering I received 8 items, I think this is a really great price.

If you know anyone who is vegan and gluten-intolerant who could use some new snacks in their life, I would introduce them to this snack box. Purchase now.

They also offer a gluten-free foodie box too which has about 7-9 full sized ingredients and food staples. This is a bit more expensive, about $36.95. But I like the fact that these are full sized, so check it out. Purchase now.

Be sure to follow them on Facebook , Twitter, and Instagram .

I am also excited to announce that I get to giveaway a snack box to one lucky reader! Enter via Rafflecopter below. US Only. Ends 5/27.

5 Recipes Made with Gluten-Free Bagels

When I think of bagels, I don't usually think of things I can make with them outside of my usual go to stuff, like cheese melts, avocado toast and toasted bagel and peanut butter.

But there are some recipes that take bagels to the next level and I came across some created by "The Greater Knead" bagel company and I absolutely had to share these with you. And I had the chance to try out some of their bagels, but more on that later. First, the tasty bagel goodness.

The Bagel Crumble.

To make this, you take their chocolate bagel (oh yes, I said chocolate), a little oil, and cinnamon and some honey. And from there you chop it up and bake it and cover it with tastiness and put it over ice cream. Just check out this recipe and you'll see why you want it.

French Toast Bites.

If there is anyone out there reading this that remembers how yummy french toast was pre-gluten-free days, I think you should check out this recipe using two Greater Knead Gluten-Free Cinnamon Raisin Bagels.

The Pizza Bagel.

Pizza Bagels tend to remind me of that one Seinfeld episode where Kramer is making pizza bagels for people to eat while they're on his bus tour. He used cinnamon raisin and pound cake, but I think this Greater Knead plain bagel is a much better idea for their pizza bagel recipe. They recommend using sauteed spinach which sounds tasty!

No-Egg Salad.

Their egg salad isn't technically egg salad. It's actually using garbanzo beans! So this sounds amazing. For your vegans out there, take their gluten-free everything bagel and follow this no-egg salad.

Caprese Egg Bake

Their egg bake sounds VERY good and I highly recommend this for brunch. Best of all it uses their tomato basil bagels which are amazing by the way.

Then if you're looking for some that's for just yourself and great for the morning, check out this Maple, Sausage and Egg Bagel sandwich made by Beyond Mommying blogger.

And being gluten-free usually means I have to be kind of creative with my meals. How about spinach artichoke dipped and chopped up Greater Knead Tomato Basil bagels to dip into? Doesn't that sound good? Check out this incredible dip by Heidi's Home Cooking.

So, I had the chance to try out a variety of their bagels and I think this has opened me up to a new style of bagel. I'm a west coaster and most of the bagels I've enjoyed in my most recent past have been big pillowy soft experiences. I've learned recently that this more New York style gluten-free bagels is on the chewier side, and that IS the way the east coasters enjoy bagels.

I tried plain and tomato basil. First, I highly HIGHLY recommend following their cooking instructions because I tried to do them my usual way and I'm not sure I did it right. The tomato basil was really tasty and I enjoyed that a lot. The texture took some getting used to but it's the type of thing I end up going back for more. Plus they are INCREDIBLY filling.

I love broadening my horizons about what I eat and so if these bagels sound like something you want to try, be sure to visit their website and check it out.

Also like them on FacebookTwitter  and Instagram.

The great thing is that I am giving away some of their bagels to one lucky reader! Enter via Rafflecopter below. Ends 5/24.
